Medieval lady by Paula Pertile

Paula knew she wanted to "color for money" when she grew up after winning $5 in a coloring contest in the 3rd grade.
So she moved to San Francisco and went to the Academy of Art, where she learned to color really really well.
For a while she drew pictures for retail displays, movies, advertising and editorial clients, greeting card companies, and more.
Now she does art for children's books, licensing, architectural rendering, "fine art", and work for various corporate and private clients.

Her work

Colored pencils are Paula's favorite medium, but she also works in watercolors, gouache, graphite and ink.
She's excited to be working on a new style which combines pen and ink with digital color.

She's currently working on a new idea for a series of children's books, as well as collections for licensing.
With her fine art work she's interested in exploring the ideas of gravity, weight and levitation, using food as a subject.
She also loves to draw everyday objects or food "just sitting there".
